Lesson Notes
  • Provide each group with one copy of activity sheet A and 3 copies of activity sheet B. Ask: What animal can you see?
  • What shape is used to make the giraffe? How many triangles are used to make the giraffe's head? Neck? Tail? Each leg?
  • Can you show me the legs that are on the ground? Can you show me the legs that are above the ground? Is the giraffe's neck longer than its tail? ...
  • Direct children to activity sheet B and ask: Can you make a picture of the giraffe using these triangles? How will you do it? What jobs could you share as a group?
  • Direct children to carry out the task. Move around the class and ask: How is your giraffe and the picture the same?
  • Does your giraffe's tail and the tail in the picture have the same number of triangles? Can you tell me how you fitted the triangles together to make the face?... How are you sharing the jobs?
