  • Direct students to the activity and ask: What do you know about the measurement system used in Australia when your grandparents were at school? What would you like to know? Can you think of a range of questions you might ask a grandparent or older person so you can find out more about the system of measurement they learned about at school?
  • Briefly discuss a few of the student's questions before directing them to list their questions on the activity sheet.
  • Place students into pairs and ask: (Reflection) Can you add to and improve each other's list of questions?
  • Place pairs into small groups and ask: (Reflection) Can you add to and improve each other's list of questions?
