- Direct students to the activity and ask: What do you know about the measurement system in the USA? What would you like to know? Can you think of a range of questions you might ask a 12 year old student in the USA so you can find out more about their systems of measurement?
- Note: This could be set up as a mutual exchange of questions and information on measurement systems between both schools.
- Briefly discuss a few of the student's questions before directing them to list their questions on the activity sheet.
- Place students into pairs and ask: (Reflection) Can you add to and improve each other's list of questions?
- Place pairs into small groups and ask: (Reflection) Can you add to and improve each other's list of questions?
- Bring groups together to share responses.
- Provide students with the opportunity to email their questions to a 'buddy' in a school in the USA. See Internet Links below.
- Provide the opportunity for students to use the data collected from their 'buddy' to deliver a report to the class.
