- Direct groups to the activity sheet and ask: What comes next in each pattern? I want you to agree on what the next shape is in each pattern.
- Direct students to draw in the next shape in each pattern.
- Provide the opportunity for groups to share responses. See Reflections.
- Provide each student with a copy of activity sheet B and ask: Can you complete the shape patterns in each box? Can you tell me how you would finish the first pattern? Second pattern? ...
- Direct students to carry out the task.
- Place students back into their groups and ask: Share your patterns in your group. Can you make sure everyone has done the patterns correctly?
