  • Direct students to activity sheet A and ask: What is the shape used to make each pattern on this page? Can you show me with your finger where you might draw the next triangle in the first pattern?
  • Direct students to continue each pattern.
  • Provide the opportunity for students to meet in pairs to check their patterns. Ask: (Reflection) Can you agree that you have both finished each pattern correctly?
  • Direct students to activity sheet B and ask: Can you create the start of a triangle pattern on each grid? When each pattern is ready to be repeated stop drawing as a partner is going to finish it for you.
  • Provide the opportunity for students to swap patterns with a partner.
  • Students return completed patterns to their partner. Ask: Has your partner completed each pattern correctly? Why do you think that?
