Resources	Ice-cream container, plastic (600 mL) cool-drink container, yogurt tub, spray can lid, choc-milk carton, margarine container, detergent container, milk carton. Water play container.
Lesson Notes	Children require the opportunity to freely play with and explore the capacity of different containers. To carry out this activity it will be necessary to work with small groups of children in a water-play tub. Select the containers in Task 1 and ask: Which container holds more? Children look at and handle the 2 containers before estimating which will hold more. Ask: How can we find out which container holds more? (Pouring from one to the other.) Direct children to carry out the activity and 'check' their finding on the table in Task 1. Repeat for Task 2 - 4.
