- Direct students to the Investigation and ask: What do you need to find out? Which box best describes your estimate of the capacity of a normal-size drink container? What information do you need to collect? How will you record the information you collect? How will you label your recording table? Do you have any further questions to ask before you Plan your investigation?
- Direct students to create a Plan for their investigation.
- (Reflection) Provide the opportunity for students to share and model good plans. (Similar to the model in Activity 299)
- Provide time and opportunity for students to modify plans and tables as necessary.
- Direct students to carry out their investigation.
- Move around the class and ask: (Reflection) What are you trying to find out? Why are you collecting data on a range of different drink bottles? What information have you collected so far? Do you have enough information to answer the question? Why do you think that?
- Provide groups with the opportunity to share 'Findings'.
- Direct students to the Reflection table and ask: How did your plan work out? Respond to student reflections as appropriate.
