- Direct children to Task 1 and ask: How many shapes are there? How many different shapes are there? What are the shapes called? If you colour the short rectangles, how many rectangles will not be coloured?
- Direct children to colour the short rectangles.
- Ask: How many rectangles did you colour? How many rectangles are not coloured?
- Read the story number sentence with the children.
- Repeat for Task 2.
- Direct children to complete Task 3. Share responses.
- Provide children with a copy of activity sheet B.
- Direct children to Task 4 and ask: We need to draw a set of 10 rectangles. Do you need to make all the rectangles the same? Direct children to draw 10 rectangles.
- Say: Now I want you to colour some of the rectangles. How many rectangles will you colour?
- Ask: How many rectangles have you coloured? How many are not coloured?
- Direct children to the recording boxes and ask: What is missing in the first sentence? Second sentence? Third sentence?
- Repeat for Task 5.
