| Lesson Notes | - Provide one copy of each activity sheet to children in groups of 3.
- Direct children to solve each problem as a group guess before drawing in any shapes. Also explain to the groups that they must agree on each guess.
- Share guesses from around the room. Ask: How did you decide as a group that 15 faces would fit inside the circle? What do most groups guess for this picture? Who guesses more than 10? Who guesses less than 10?
- After discussing guesses direct children to check their ideas by drawing in smiley faces.
- Move around groups and ask: Did you draw more, less or the same number of faces as your guess? Are your faces all about the right size? If you drew the faces closer together would you fit in any more? If you drew the faces a little bigger would you fit in more or less? ...

| Reflections | Use these reflective questions as children are working in their groups. Ask: How are you working as a team? Do you all agree that 10 is a good guess? Why do you think 10 is a good guess? Is everyone having a turn to speak? Have you heard a good idea from another person? Have you told others a good idea yourself?
