| Lesson Notes | - Activity 1. - Students independently write an interpretation for each of the phrases using 'million'.
- Students meet in small groups to share ideas and agree on a group response.
- Share responses from around the class.
- Activity 2. - Students work in pairs to prepare answers for several of the questions.
- Students share answers in whole group discussions. Students listening should be encouraged to ask questions seeking clarification of points made.
- Activity 3. - Students independently develop a strategy and carry out working to test the conjecture.
- Extend: Investigate responses from others to the question: What would you do with a million dollars? Students collect, record and report on the data.
- Ask students to make up 'time' conjectures similar to Clarrie's conjecture.
