  • Tell students to write down the number they start with in each puzzle.
  • Students follow the steps to change their number on the calculator.
  • Share start numbers and solutions: "In the first puzzle I started with 9901. What number did I get on my screen?" (Students listening use mental computation and/or calculator to find the solution.)
  • Ask students to make up similar puzzles that others can solve.
