  • Find Out 1: Place the problem on the board. Discuss the problem and brainstorm for suggested strategies before distributing the activity sheet.
  • Hand out the activity sheet and direct students' attention to the partial table. Discuss how this table might be used to solve the problem. Ask: How many rows might you need to draw on the table?
  • Students complete the table to solve the problem. Ask: How did you take away 100 each time? Is there a pattern?
  • Find Out 2: Students work independently to solve this problem using a table to organise the data.
  • Share solutions and strategies.
