| Lesson Notes | - Ask students to write a guestimate (conjecture) of the solution.
- Then ask students to make a choice between working independently or in a group depending on their confidence in answering the question. Note: For those joining a group, emphasise that all members are expected to contribute to the group's needs.
- Give the students time and space to work independent of teacher interaction. Students learn to rely on each other for assistance and the sharing of strategies.
- Students verify (and revisit as necessary) strategies and solutions with each other before handing in their work for assessment.
- Complete the lesson by asking students to create similar investigative questions.
- Collect and mark student work.
