| Lesson Notes | - Students discuss Search Engines they have used and what a Search Engine does on a computer (for background information on Search Engines go to http://www.howstuffworks.com/sc-computers-internet.htm )
- Students carry out search enquiries and record number of matches.
- Students transfer their records to the table provided.
- Ask students to make statements about their results such as: "Yahoo! Gave a greater number of links to Space than Hot Bot. It seems like Websearch AU gives more responses than other Search Engines for any search..." Ask students to carry out a similar task recording the number of matches for topics on a new table.
- Students write out several statements about their results.
- Extend: Challenge students to find a topic about Australia that provides the greatest number of matches.
