General Information
- The Australian Mathematics Curriculum is a quality document to under-pin the teaching of mathematics in any school.
- MTSonline provides many resources to support schools/teachers looking to implement the Australian Mathematics Curriculum.
- Note: For brevity we often refer to the Australian Mathematics Curriculum as the 'National' curriculum or AU Curriculum.
Understanding the Australian Curriculum
- The AU Curriculum is different to other contemporary curriculums in that it provides the content priorities to be taught at each year level.
- To complete a well balanced teaching-learning program other content also needs to be addressed. For example, adding and subtracting does not appear as content to be taught at each year level of the AU Curriculum but, clearly, students need to do something in adding and subtracting each year.
- To use the AU Curriculum schools first need to develop a Scope and Sequence planner or learning map to 'marry' the National priorities with state curriculum content (i.e. to amalgamate both curriculums) and create a balanced 12 month learning program with an emphasis on the AU Curriculum content.
- At MTSonline we have provided these Scope and Sequence planners for you that clearly distinguish between the AU Curriculum content and other content.
- To download the Scope and Sequence planners go to Search Option 1 or Search Option 2.
